You can now ruggedize your smartphone with Logitech’s protection+ cases

Considering that we spend hundreds of dollars of our hard earned money on our smartphones, safe to say that we’d like them to last as long as possible, right? After all unless you have a lot of disposable income, changing smartphones every few months doesn’t seem like a very feasible thing to do. Well if you’re looking for a way to protect your smartphone, Logitech has recently announced their new protection+ cases for Samsung and iPhone devices. According to Logitech, these new protection+ cases will feature a hard polycarbonate body with impact resistant polymers in each corner of the case. This is supposed to help absorb shock by spreading it throughout the surface of the case.

While there’s no shortage of smartphone cases to choose from, a typical plastic or rubber case may not be enough for those prone to frequently dropping their phones. Logitech unveiled a new line of extra-rugged smartphone cases Wednesday that will protect smartphones from serious bumps and drops. The $34.99 protection+ case is compatible with the iPhone 5 and 5S and Samsung’s Galaxy S5. Its body is made of a hard polycarbonate shell while its corners— which tend to be weak pointss on most devices— contain impact-resistant polymers. Behind the shell, the protection+ has an extra shock-absorbing rubber layer. “Our smartphones take quite a beating,” Ariel Fischer, Logitech’s director of smartphone accessories, said in a statement. “We designed the Logitech protection+ to give you peace of mind disguised in a great looking protective case that absorbs the daily shocks your phone experiences.” The protection+ is so strong, in fact, Logitech says the case can be safely dropped from heights up to 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) without the fear of damage. The case contains a metal plate in the back, which is used for two optional in-car accessories: the +trip and +drive. The $29.99 +trip is a mount that attaches your phone to your car’s air vent while the $49.99 +drive dashboard mount attaches to your car’s windshield.
