Apple will be killing off Beats Music on November 30th

Now that Apple Music has officially launched on Android, albeit an extremely buggy beta version, there’s not much of a reason for Beats Music to continue existing. Last night, it was announced that Beats Music will be shutting down for good on November 30th, with current subscribers being advised to switch over to Apple Music. This isn’t surprising, as one of the reasons Apple acquired Beats in the first place was to get the talent and technology it needed to design its own music streaming service, and since that service has been released, Beats Music is no longer needed to act as a placeholder. 

It’s been announced that the Beats Music streaming service will finally close for good on November 30. The news has been expected ever since it was confirmed that Apple had purchased Beats for $3 billion back in May of last year. Now, with Apple Music having established itself over the past five months, the shutters are coming down on the Beats Music streaming service. A short post on the Beats support website confirms that “Beats Music ends on November 30,” before advising that “Your subscription will be cancelled, but you can move your picks and preferences over to Apple Music right now.” It draws another link to the new Apple service by stating that “All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more amazing experiences” on Apple Music. It also points out that “you’ll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favourite artist, and more.”
