Market data policy

How TECHi sources, resolves, and labels market data.

TECHi quote pages use a layered provider stack, field-level resolution, cached fallbacks, and documented model inputs. This page explains what we can verify, what can be delayed, and where readers should go for original-source confirmation.

This policy became central to TECHi after the December 2024 finance-first rebuild, when quote pages, model scores, and market research moved into the core product.

Provider stack

Configured sources, not a blanket promise.

The current TECHi market-data stack includes Yahoo Finance, Financial Modeling Prep, Alpha Vantage, Finnhub, Twelve Data, Stooq, SEC Companyfacts, Marketaux, Payload editorial records, TECHi curated stock metadata, and computed fields. A provider can be unavailable for a symbol, asset type, region, entitlement, rate limit, or temporary outage. When that happens, the unified layer either falls back to the next configured source or shows that the field is unavailable.

Area
Typical sources
Reader note
Live quote cards
Yahoo Finance, Alpha Vantage, Financial Modeling Prep, Twelve Data, Stooq EOD fallback
A field-level resolver picks the strongest available value and stores provider/as-of context where available.
Fundamentals
Financial Modeling Prep, Alpha Vantage, SEC Companyfacts, Payload stock records, computed fields
Revenue, margins, share counts, and cash-flow values can differ by provider until filings and restatements settle.
Analyst targets
Alpha Vantage, Financial Modeling Prep, Finnhub, TECHi editorial records
Target ranges, recommendation mixes, and revision context are displayed only when a provider or editorial record supplies enough data.
Earnings, dividends, splits
Alpha Vantage, Financial Modeling Prep, Twelve Data, SEC/company filings
Calendar dates can move after companies update guidance or exchanges revise corporate-action data.
Historical charts
Yahoo Finance, Alpha Vantage, Financial Modeling Prep, Stooq EOD fallback
Daily history is normalized before derived return, CAGR, volatility, and split-adjusted calculations are shown.
News and sentiment
Alpha Vantage, Finnhub, Marketaux, TECHi editorial coverage
News feeds are used as context inputs and can lag or omit stories depending on licensing and provider availability.
Options and flow
Alpha Vantage and other configured options-capable adapters
Options tables are snapshots for research. They are not execution quotes and must be verified in a broker before trading.
Computed scores
TECHi formulas using resolved market, fundamental, analyst, technical, and editorial inputs
Computed fields are derived from the resolved source data; when inputs are missing, confidence falls and scores move toward neutral.

Resolution rules

What happens before a number reaches the page.

One winning source per field

TECHi resolves quote-page fields through a unified data layer instead of dumping every provider response onto the page. The page shows the final resolved value, while provider and timestamp metadata remain available to the data layer and selected UI notes.

Freshness beats false precision

When a live feed is unavailable, TECHi can fall back to cached, end-of-day, or filing-derived data. We prefer a visible stale or unavailable state over inventing a number or presenting a delayed value as live.

Provider data can disagree

Market-data vendors can normalize share counts, fiscal calendars, dividends, splits, and analyst estimates differently. TECHi treats those differences as normal data risk and documents the broad method instead of implying a single perfect source.

Models do not override facts

TECHi Intelligence scores are research screens built from resolved inputs. They do not replace filings, broker quotes, exchange data, or a licensed financial adviser.

What TECHi does not claim

  • TECHi is not an exchange feed, broker, registered investment adviser, or trade execution venue.
  • Prices, fundamentals, analyst estimates, options data, and charts can be delayed, cached, incomplete, or revised.
  • Provider attribution does not mean TECHi endorses a vendor value as perfect or suitable for trading.
  • Forecasts, scores, and scenario math are research tools, not personalized financial advice.
