Insta360 X5 was released with the newest innovation after the popular release of X4. It is a 3600 camera made for both professional and amateur creators.

It provides the flexibility to its users for both 360-degree videos and standard flat videos. It records videos with 4K UHD Resolution with frame rates available in HD or 2.7 K.

Solid Built, Small Grip, And Lens Protection

X5 has an excellent build with a design that feels natural in hand, whether it is held in portrait or landscape mode, or even affixed on a tripod. It has a textured grip, making it secure to hold, and it is even waterproof for up to 15 meters.

However, Insta360 has not worked on its lens protection. Just like X4, it comes with 2 plastic lens covers that provide basic protection from scratches. It would be great if there were built-in scratch-resistant housing just like smartphones, eliminating the need for external accessories.

Built-in AI for Smart Editing

Insta360x5 has embraced AI-powered editing via its mobile app. It can analyze a 6-minute 360-degree video within 5 minutes, making quick edits and helping creators save their time.

But still, it is not good at selecting the right moments, and its decision-making is still questionable. Although manual editing is available to polish the final cut but it also highlights that AI is not solely reliable and human intervention is required to meet the creative touch.

Export Time and Pricing

Video export time needs improvement. It take almost five minutes to export a 1-minute video on Pixel 8 Pro. Since the final resul is an mp4 video, the wait is not justifiable for the file type.

However, the starting price for Insta360 X5 is $549. The bundled package comes with a price of $659 and includes a lens protector, a selfie stick, a carrying case, and much more.

For content creators and vloggers, it is a solid upgrade from X4. It is a good fit for travel shots, and behind-the-scenes content with it dual capture mode and water proof design.
