iOS4 ‘Clone’ Running On An HTC Device Performs Like You Might Expect: Garbage

Something bizarre, real quick – it seems someone big on time and short on things to do has decided to ‘clone’ iOS4 to an HTC device, and the video here is the result.

Unfortunately, not much info on this, except that it’s Chinese, and appears to be slow as hell – at least as slow as iOS4 running on an iPhone 3G. But like I said last week, it’s not how well the pig dances, but that it dances at all. It’s pretty surreal to see iOS running on another device, isn’t it?

  1. Don’t assume it’s slow because HTC devices suck balls. You have to put the blame in the person who made the damn clone or port. Seriously, people need to stop acting like Apple is the only company out there doing things right.

  2. Its probably slow because its on an HTC Magic…525mhz proc and 192mb of ram.

Run it on the Nexus one… im sure it would run much better.

  3. the actual result is actually pretty decent, the keyboard looks quite responsive, and the actual apps seems to be working, (although it does take a while to start apps it seems) still the only thing that is garbage here is the author of this article

  4. There are a few subtle differences that make me doubt this is actually iOS. For example, when you start the weather app, it doesn’t usually flip over to ask you for a city. Some of the transitions are either wrong or missing. I say it’s a convincing chinese fake.

  5. Its relatively obvious that this is not a port of the iOS, but rather Android skinned to look like it. Few people are noticing that this is the case. The telling points in the video are the swipes between homescreens (the background slides, which is an Android thing), and the App Store being opened for a split second (looks nothing like the Apple App Store). However, this is a fantastic skin. I’d like the person behind this to make me an Android skin for my iPhone 4.

  6. I find it interesting, but whats the point of just watching a video, I’d like to see it uploaded so I can try it for myself otherwise its worthless to me.
