iPad Mini Due For Christmas?

11

The iPad is about to get a Mini Me, according to rumors on the web this morning.

Apple’s annual iPod release event in September is nearly upon us, and the rumor mill is busier than ever pondering what new gadgets Apple might unveil.

The current iPad has a 9.7″ screen, so some have speculated that an iPad closer to the size of the iPod touch would be a big hit.

It seems to me that now that the iPad is in the wild, it might be time to draw a line between iPods, simple music-playing devices and iPads, touch enabled browsing and multimedia devices.

If this is true, then perhaps the rumor indicates that the iPod touch will be retired, to be replaced by a range of iPads with 2 or 3 different size screens.

Apple is as usual tight lipped about upcoming products, but the need for a strong supply chain usually ensures at least a few leaks from supplier employees.

What cool new device would you like to see from Apple this fall?

  1. What…? A 7″ iPad would be pointless… It would have a smaller screen, but still be awkward to carry around. Although I suppose it would make sense to buy one if it was cheaper. A 5″ one would be nice and pocket sized though (just about). Apple probably will replace the iPod touch with a similarly sized ‘iPad’ (nano or something), but I wonder how they’ll go about it… I mean, knowing Apple they’ll probably pretend the Touch never existed. But… We know it did… I don’t know, it just seems a bit strange, in their funny little world… But I love Apple anyway.

  2. I think the 7″ iPad is a great idea. However, I do not think it will be replacing the iPod. Look for a new version of the iPod touch with a front facing camera and retina display by the end of the year.

  3. The ipad mini is an IPHONE or ITOUCH, I don’t understand apple and how people are be sucked into every little item they buy. I understand their out to make money but consumers just keep pouring in the dough. Hilarious.
