Getting your Oona on

Getting your Oona on

It’s a camera mount! It’s a smartphone stand! It’s a dashboard GPS adapter! It’s a chunk of aluminum with a suction cup stuck to it!

Following the time-honoured tradition of giving one’s tech product or service a bizarre, silly-sounding name, the Oona (pronounced ‘Oona’) makes resoundingly clear the fact that sometimes, the simplest idea really is the best.

You’re totally jelz you didn’t think of this first.

Maybe I did….  MiMMs Mounts has a similar idea but with a totally different design. It’s magnetic and modular. Check it out at http://www.mimmsmounts.com. One big plus over the oona: you can mount and dismount your gadget with one hand. Just twist and it releases. It’s a bootstrap project – initial product is mass-prototyped using a Makerbot 3D Printer. It’s Desktop Manufacturing at it’s best.
