Baldur’s Gate 3 Unveils Massive Patch 8, Twelve Subclasses Dated

According to Larian, the eagerly awaited Patch 8 update for Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be available on Tuesday. Although Patch 8 has long been accessible in stress test form, Larian has declared that it will be made available to all players next week.

What’s New in Patch 8?

Developer Larian Studios said Friday that Patch 8, which adds features like a photo mode, crossplay, and 12 new subclasses, will be available on April 15.

Although Larian has been stress testing it before the official release, the patch, which is expected to be the game’s final significant update, has been in the works for a while. It was first announced in November 2024.

Twelve New Subclasses Across All Core Classes

Each of the game’s primary classes—Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard—will gain a new subclass as a result of the 12 new subclasses. The whole list of newly introduced subclasses is available in this Larian post from November.

Crossplay and Photo Mode Features

Despite what platform your friends are using, you may play multiplayer games with them thanks to crossplay. Additionally, the game’s photo editor will include stickers, various lens settings, and location settings.

Future of Baldur’s Gate Franchise Still Uncertain

Ayoub provided no other details regarding whether this “stuff” might represent a full-fledged new Baldur’s Gate under development or a crossover similar to what the characters experienced in Magic: The Gathering. He did admit, though, that it will probably take some time to create Baldur’s Gate 4, even though he inevitably wants one.

Larian’s Media Blackout & Mystery Game Development

Before declaring a media blackout to concentrate on the new mystery project, Larian hinted at a brand-new game several times, shocking the gaming community by stating its decision to abandon Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dungeons & Dragons in favor of developing a brand-new game. Senior systems designer Ross Stephens will walk through the enhancements and modifications during Larian’s Twitch webcast to commemorate the introduction of Patch 8.
