Fox may finally be bringing us a Minority Report television series

Many people, myself included, have been asking for a Minority Report televisions series since the movie first came out, and now it looks like that might finally be happening. The world is in desperate need of a decent cyberpunk television series and Minority Report has the perfect world to do so with, which is why Fox has greenlit a pilot program for the series.

One of the highest profile pitches this season, Minority Report, continues to sail through the development season with an early pilot order. Fox has given the green light to the project, from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Godzilla writer Max Borenstein, which the network bought preemptively in September with a big put pilot commitment that had a $1 million penalty attached. Kevin Falls has come on board as showrunner on the project, based on the 2002 movie directed by Spielberg. This marks the first scripted pilot order for Dana Walden and Gary Newman since they added oversight of Fox to their duties as chairmen of 20th Century Fox TV in July. (The two recently gave a straight-to-series order to Scream Queens, a horror drama from Ryan Murphy and his Glee co-creators.) Also heating up for a pilot order at Fox is another drama with a highly recognizable title, Frankenstein, from Rand Ravich and Howard Gordon.
