Sony revealed a wide range of future games and technology advancements for the PlayStation 5 at its June 2025 State of Play event, indicating a strong roster for the second half of the year and beyond. Many clips for games that will be released later in 2025 and 2026 were shown off during Sony’s State of Play online conference on Wednesday. Less than an hour long, the presentation included a new controller and previously unannounced PS5 games.
A developer-focused preview was provided by Sony’s previous State of Play in February, which highlighted upcoming House marque games such as Sonic Racing, Crossworlds, Lies of P, Overture, and Saros.
The June presentation, on the other hand, changed course and unveiled powerful trailers for some of PlayStation’s most eagerly awaited titles. A dramatically revamped Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a long-awaited restoration of Final Fantasy Tactics, Ghost of Yoga, Silent Hill F, and Capcom’s mysterious Pragmatic were among the top games. Sony’s sustained commitment to both prestige intellectual property and lighthearted innovation was demonstrated by the presentation’s conclusion, which featured new material for Astro Bot, the breakout fan favorite from the previous year.
1. Ghost of Yōtei Revealed
A gameplay reveal broadcast is scheduled for July, but the video for the spiritual follow-up to Ghost of Sushi focused more on feelings than gameplay. Oh, well.
2. Marvel Tōkon Makes Impactful Debut
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, which promises tight gameplay and entertaining new costumes for Marvel heroes, is a touch more grounded than Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (where are my super jumps?). It will feature 4v4 tag team bouts. In 2026, it will be available on the PS5 and PC.
3. Final Fantasy Tactics Returns Triumphantly
The iconic tactical role-playing game is back in a new form with Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. Whereas the classic version “combines the gameplay and graphics of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation.
4. Lumines Franchise Makes Bold Comeback
The makers of Tetris Effect: Connected are releasing a new game in the Lumines universe, and you can feel the effect of the synesthetic blending of music and images. Fall 2025 will see the PS5 release of Lumines Arise.
5. Capcom’s Pragmata Arrives 2026
With a 2026 release date, Capcom’s long-delayed sci-fi action game Pragmata has finally surfaced, having been first teased in 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5.
6. Romeo Is a Dead Man Unveiled
Grasshopper Manufacture is the developer behind Romeo is a Dead Man, a ridiculous, action-packed, and gory film. In 2026, it will be available on PS5.
7. Sea of Remnants Sets Sail
Sea of Remnants is a chic new “F2P voyage-themed role-playing game” with a pirate motif. According to the creator, players will create a distinctive island life, hire crew, discover new pathways, engage in turn-based warfare with adversaries, and etch their memories into the endless tides.
What is Ahead?
With a fall release schedule that includes Metal Gear Solid Delta, Astro Bot DLC, and Silent Hill F, Sony is unmistakably preparing for a holiday season that values tradition and devotion. If it works, this might be the model for a future PlayStation 6 ramp-up, where the past informs the present.
