How to Read Today’s Silver Rate

Start with XAG/USD — the international silver spot price, one troy ounce of silver in US dollars. Every local silver rate, including the PKR chandi rate per tola, starts from that global number and then adds currency conversion, purity, local premiums and dealer costs.

One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams and one tola equals 11.6638038 grams, so a tola is just over a third of an ounce. TECHi converts ounce to gram first, then gram to tola, so the PKR tola estimate stays consistent with the USD benchmark.

Silver usually carries a larger percentage premium over spot than gold, because making and dealing costs are a bigger share of silver’s lower value. Treat the PKR figure as an international spot conversion before those local premiums.

Quick Checks Before Buying Silver

  • Compare the dealer’s quote against the USD spot and PKR tola conversion.
  • Confirm purity: pure silver is .999 fine; sterling is .925.
  • Separate silver content from making charges, wastage and dealer spread.
  • For coins and bars, check weight, hallmark and buyback terms.
  • Keep receipts for resale — premiums on silver move quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the silver rate in Pakistan today?
The live silver rate in Pakistan — pure .999 silver and .925 sterling, per tola, per 10 grams and per kilogram in PKR — is shown in the table near the top of this page. It tracks the international silver spot price converted to rupees at the current exchange rate, which is the benchmark local dealers price from.
What is the price of 1 tola of silver in Pakistan today?
The live pure-silver rate per tola in PKR is shown in the rate table and the hero card above. One tola is 11.664 grams, so the tola rate is the per-gram silver rate multiplied by 11.664. Retail asking prices usually run a few percent higher once making and dealer margins are added.
What is the silver rate per 10 grams and per kg in Pakistan?
Both are shown live in the rate table above, in PKR. Per 10 grams is the per-gram rate × 10; per kilogram is the per-gram rate × 1,000. A kilogram of silver is roughly 85.7 tola.
Why is the silver rate here different from my dealer’s quote?
This page shows the silver rate converted from clean international spot. A dealer’s quote can be higher because it bundles import costs, dealer margin and (for jewellery) making charges. Silver carries a larger percentage premium than gold because those costs are a bigger share of its lower value. Use the calculator to add a premium and model a realistic local price.
What is the difference between pure silver and sterling silver?
Pure silver is .999 fine (99.9% silver) and is used for coins, bars and investment. Sterling silver is .925 (92.5% silver, alloyed for hardness) and is used for jewellery, cutlery and gifts. The rate table above shows both.
Why does silver cost more per gram from a shop than the rate shown?
Because shops add making charges and a dealer margin, and silver’s premium is proportionally larger than gold’s. On small quantities the markup can be 5–12% or more. The figures here are for the silver content only, which is what you want when comparing value before you negotiate.
Is silver a good investment in Pakistan?
Silver is more affordable than gold and tends to move with it, but it is more volatile and carries higher buying/selling spreads. Many people hold a small amount as a hedge and for cultural use. Treat it as one part of a diversified plan, not the whole of your savings — this is general information, not personalised advice.
How do I calculate the silver price per tola in Pakistan?
Take the per-gram silver rate in PKR and multiply by 11.664 for a tola, by 10 for 10 grams, or by 1,000 for a kilogram. For sterling, multiply by 0.925 first. The calculator on this page does this for any weight, purity and currency.
What drives the silver rate in Pakistan?
Global factors set the international price (the US dollar, interest rates, industrial demand and gold’s direction), while local factors — the rupee–dollar exchange rate, import costs and seasonal demand — shape the PKR rate you actually pay.
Why is silver more volatile than gold?
Silver is a smaller market with significant industrial demand (electronics, solar, etc.), so it swings more sharply in both directions than gold. That means bigger gains in rallies and bigger drops in sell-offs.
How often does the silver rate on this page update?
The silver price moves continuously through global market hours and the figures here follow that benchmark, with the “Updated” time showing the latest reading. Over weekends and holidays the price holds at the last close.
Is a tola the same as a troy ounce?
No. One troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams while one tola is 11.6638038 grams — a tola is just over a third of an ounce. The conversions on this page go ounce → gram → tola so the USD and PKR values stay consistent.
What taxes apply to silver in Pakistan?
Silver can attract import duties and sales tax depending on form and quantity, and gains may be taxable. Rules change, so confirm the current position with a tax adviser for your situation.
Should I buy silver coins, bars or jewellery?
For investment, coins and bars carry lower making charges and resell closer to spot. Jewellery and decorative items carry higher making charges but have everyday and cultural use. Match the form to your purpose.
Where can I see historical silver prices?
The chart on this page covers several years of daily prices and you can switch the range from one month to five years. For longer series, the LBMA and the World Silver Survey publish historical data.
Does TECHi show live dealer prices from specific shops?
No. We show the transparent spot-derived benchmark rate and let you add a premium for local conditions, then recommend confirming with dealers on the day you buy. Republishing unverified shop-by-shop numbers would be misleading.
