After switching off Televisions, trying to reboot the Sky box, and checking the service status page, Sky users slept on the night of 14 May, hoping to get their broadband fixed in the morning. However, Sky TV users are still experiencing service outages on the morning of 15 May.

On Thursday night, SKY TV users jumped to their social media platforms, including X and Reddit, reporting that their TVs were not functioning. More than 30,000 people reported issues with their Sky broadband and television.

According to DownDetector,87% of users reported problems with Televisions, 9% showed total blackout, and 5% showed internet problems.

The peak hours of outage were observed from 1:15 a.m. to 4:15 a.m.

Users Across the UK Reported an Outage on Friday Morning

On DownDetector, users started reporting early morning that they were still struggling with Sky broadband and unable to watch television. A user commented on DownDetector

“Still not working this morning, Gloucestershire”

Another user posted

“Still not working Sheffield”

However, one user from Aberdeenshire commented

“All appears fine now. Aberdeenshire”

Can Reboot Fix the Problem?

Sky users are receiving mixed reviews about the robot fixing their problems. One user wrote

“Just rebooted (6.50) all looks ok, fingers crossed it wasn't a major hack by those who did M&S, Co-op, etc…”

However, another user reported reboot fixed the problem for a short span. He wrote

“If you reboot the box (remove power, then reconnect), it should start up again. Mine went down not long after 9 pm but restarted fine on a reboot. But it went down again four further times (I rebooted after each), so I gave up. Whatever happened seems to be locking up the box, so you have to reboot. It won't just restart by itself. The issue seems to be easing now."

Sky User Service Check Procedure

Sky provides these simple steps for users to fix their broadband or TV.

  • Reboot the Sky Box
  • Update the software on the box
  • Check the Service Status Page
  • Check the Sky Remote
  • Check the weather

With a clear sky in the UK, sunny with no rain in sight, the Sky signal is not to blame for the weather.
