Asus crossed the boundaries of gaming laptop innovation at CES 2025 after it revealed its updated TUF Gaming lineup. The highlight of this event was the brand-new TUF Gaming lineup, which marks Asus’s first venture into the 18-inch gaming laptop category. After this powerhouse, refined versions of the renowned TUF gaming A16 and F16 models were also announced, reinforcing Asus’s commitment to delivering highly capable gaming machines at aggressive prices.
Asus TUF Gaming A18: A New Replacement for Desktop PCs
The TUF gaming A18 (FA808) has risen as a praise-worthy option for gamers seeking immersive experiences without having to compromise on portability. Its humongous 18-inch display offers two attractive options: a 2.5K WQXGA (2560×1600) resolution with a buttery smooth 240Hz refresh rate and a budget-friendly option, the FHD+ (1920×1200) panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. Both consist of a 16:10 aspect ratio with up to 500 nits peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, ensuring stunning visuals.
Within, the A18 packs serious power:
Processor: Up to AMD Ryzen 7 260 (Zen 4 “Hawk Point” architecture).
Graphics: Up to the amazing Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, with an option available for the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. These Blackwell-based GPUs assure considerable advancements in ray tracing, AI-enhanced graphics (including DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation), and overall gaming performance, with up to 798 AI TOPs on the RTX 5070.
Memory: Up to 32GB of high-speed DDR5-5600MHz RAM.
Storage: Up to 2TB of blazing-fast M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, with dual user-upgradeable slots.
Connectivity is rather comprehensive, with advanced ports like USB4 (with DisplayPort support), USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, HDMI 2.1, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The audio is refined with Dolby Atmos and stereo speakers, which are rounded off by (believe it or not) two-way AI noise cancellation and a 1080p IR camera with Windows Hello support.
Even with its size, the A18 maintains TUF’s well-known durability built to MIL-STD-810H standards. It weighs only 2.6kg (5.73 lbs) and measures 18.9mm at its thinnest point with an adjustable 180-degree hinge design. Since heat dissipation is crucial for such adept components, the A18 reveals to you second-generation Arc Flow fans with a bi-impeller design and a full-width heatsink for prime cooling. It even enables 0dB ambient cooling during less demanding workloads.
Pricing and Availability: The Asus TUF Gaming A18 with the RTX 5060 GPU will start at $1,599 and will be available at Costco stores starting in August. A more powerful RTX 5070 variant will launch at $1,799 on Newegg starting in July.
Refined TUF Gaming A16 and F16 Models
Asus also updated its 16-inch TUF Gaming A16 (FA608) and F16 (FX608) models. Both feature crisp 16-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) displays with a 165Hz refresh rate and 400 nits peak brightness. While the TUF Gaming A16 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 260 processor, the TUF Gaming F16 features Intel’s latest Core Ultra 9 275HX chipset.
Both of these models can support up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, up to 32GB DDR5 RAM, and up to 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. They also take advantage of the new and improved second-generation Arc Flow fans and share the durable MIL-STD-810H build quality and 90Wh battery. However, only the F16 uniquely features a Thunderbolt 4 port.
Considering the attention to detail mentioned, this 2025 Asus lineup has appeared to strengthen Asus’s position in the gaming laptop market, offering an attractive blend of state-of-the-art hardware, vigorous features and an aggressive price range across various platforms for gamers, content creators and intense office workers.
