Chinese smartphone makers have been having an excellent year so far, and Meizu is no exception. The company has released a couple of excellent mid-range smartphones so far in 2015, as well as an equally impressive flagship device, but the long-rumored Meizu MX5 Pro is what many of us have really been waiting for. The company has been dropping hints recently that the high-end phablet won’t actually launch at all, but some recent leaks seem to imply otherwise.

Meizu has announced a number of compelling smartphones this year. The last three phones this Chinese smartphone OEM has showcased are the Meizu M2 Note, M2 and MX5. The first two devices are mid-range offerings by Meizu, and the third one is company’s flagship for this year. All of these devices are really affordable, and really solid offerings by the company. That being said, the Meizu MX5 Pro handset has been rumored for a long time, and then Meizu’s executive hinted that the device might not launch at all. Read on. The company’s VP, Li Nan, has hinted last month that Meizu is developing a premium new line of handsets, and that the company might eventually ditch the MX Pro brand. He didn’t specifically say that the MX5 Pro won’t be announced, but a number of reports said that might be the case.
