The dream of Silicon Alley, New York’s first attempt at crafting a tech hub competitor to Silicon Valley before the “Web 1.0” dot com crash of 2000 to 2001, has been resurrected in the form of a new website called Digital.NYC. Officially launched on Wednesday by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, the website is hoping to become an online hub for everything tech in New York, including venture capital, technology jobs and incubators.

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Wednesday launched Digital.NYC, a website dedicated to serving New York City’s technology and startup community. The site offers an array of information, including profiles of city-based tech companies and investors, a continuously updated list of technology and digital-job openings, a calendar of events and startup resources across the five boroughs. “Technology is driving innovation across New York City’s industries—from fashion to finance to manufacturing, making it more necessary than ever for the city’s digital community to have a central platform,” Mr. de Blasio said. At a news conference in Brooklyn, Mr. de Blasio pledged to build on predecessorMichael Bloomberg’s aggressive push to draw tech companies to New York City. The website is a byproduct of efforts that began during Mr. Bloomberg’s tenure at City Hall.
