In the VR game Bootstrap Island, which is still in early access, players are left alone on a desert island and must scrounge for food, drink, and defensive equipment. The swashbuckling survival game has undergone a significant update that includes dynamic weather conditions to make essential tasks like hunting and cooking more difficult. These conditions include heavy winds that destroy valuable shelters, unpredictable lightning bolts that raise the possibility of serious injury, and torrential rainstorms that put out fires.

New Animals and Challenges

In addition to intermittent storms, the weather update for Bootstrap Island brings in palm leaves and roof building, animals like frogs and lizards that may be caught and consumed, and warthogs that can be hunted for food. Despite the wild pigs attacking without warning and frequently in packs day or night, warthogs pose a greater threat than the other animals.

Developer's Vision for Realism

According to a written statement from Rein Zobel, Creative Director of Bootstrap Island,

"Our goal with Major Update 3 was to make the world of Bootstrap Island feel even more alive and immersive."

In addition to adding realism, the Dynamic Weather System compels players to plan ahead, adjust, and actively interact with the environment. Your survival may be impacted by every storm, wind gust, and raindrop.

Recent Updates and Improvements

The third significant improvement for the limited-access game is a climate update. A tall ape boss and a new, perilous spot tucked away in the jungle were added to Bootstrap Island in November of last year. Along with a day counter and food-spoiling features, the November update also included Boots, which might speed up a player's jogging and walking.
