Google is, maybe, very silently getting ready to create a bang at the coming Google I/O event, the biggest clue possibly hiding in the open. In a recent event of The Android Show on YouTube, an unusual sight also caught viewers’ attention. As the show wound up, Sameer Samat, president of Android Ecosystem, gave a short tease for Google I/O, but what everyone noticed wasn’t just his words.

“Join us for an exciting Google I/O in just a few days. We’ll have deep dives from developers, the latest on Google Gemini, and maybe even a few more cool Android demos. See you on May 20.”

A Closer Look: Could These Be Android-Powered Smart Glasses?

Those were not ordinary shades. In the nearby investigation, each side of the frame appears to include circular indents placed exactly where cameras typically would be positioned on smart glasses, sparking speculation that Google might be gearing up to unveil a new Android smart glass. This apparently insignificant moment could indicate that Google is finally returning to the fold of AR wearables years after the original Google Glass was dished. Advances in intelligent eyewear, such as Meta’s Ray-Ban Glasses, have made it clear why Google might be feeling the urge to get back into the market-with a more advanced display and integration into Android for the future.

However, with no official confirmation having arrived, the teaser right before Google I/O feels more than coincidental. Could these be the prototypes working on an initial version of Google’s rumored Android XR (Extended Reality) OS? Test launch or full unveiling, the signals keep coming. All eyes are going to be on May 20, as developers and tech fans eagerly await whether Google will launch its next-generation device.
