Today's hints
Each hint gives a little more away. Stop as soon as it clicks.
Easy opener — reveal hint
Five dominoes, five regions. Fill the two single-cell regions first; the biggest sum target on Easy is only 3.
Medium opener — reveal hint
Seven dominoes. The greater-than-10 pair is a strong early anchor beside the empty cell.
Hard opener — reveal hint
Twelve dominoes and lots of single-cell sums — place those forced pips before chasing the unequal/equals clusters.
Hard pip count — reveal hint
In the hard set, 2 shows up most often, and three of the twelve tiles are doubles.
Equality reminder — reveal hint
Equality regions want matching pip values on every cell in the region, not matching dominoes.
Double tip — reveal hint
Doubles are orientation-safe but still must satisfy the region math on both cells.

Reveal answer and explanation
Why this answer
Friday’s Pips (October 9, 2026) is easiest when you solve region math before aesthetics.
Easy #1332 rewards filling the two singleton cells, then completing the equality strips with the 1-1 and 2-2 doubles.
Medium #1347 hinges on the greater-than-10 pair and the sum-2 bottom strip — once those land, the equals trio locks.
Hard #1357 is a single-cell gauntlet: place the forced sums around the rim, keep the 6-6 on the greater-than-7 stack, and finish with the bottom equals run of 5-2 / 2-2.
Solve notes
Fast path for today’s Pips
Read every region label before placing a double. Singletons and tiny sum targets are safer first moves than large equality zones.
Hard-board note
The unequal triple in the middle of Hard is where most misplacements start. Confirm the surrounding sum cells before you commit a 6-1 or 5-2 there.
Tomorrow
Saturday’s Pips boards publish October 10, 2026.
Questions about this edition
What are today’s NYT Pips board IDs for October 9, 2026?
Easy #1332, Medium #1347, and Hard #1357.
Where can I see the full domino placements?
The answer section lists every domino with its cell coordinates for Easy, Medium, and Hard.
What should I solve first on Easy?
The single-cell regions — they force specific pip values before the equality strips.
Why is Hard #1357 slow?
It has many single-cell sum constraints, so one early wrong double cascades.
How do you play NYT Pips?
Place each domino so every region’s rule (sum, equals, greater/less, unequal) is satisfied.
