The NEW Adventures of YouTube Mobile

I don’t get what’s so great about the mobile web. It’s like a harder-to-see, harder-to-use version of the real internet. I dunno, call me old. You’d be wrong, but I guess I’d deserve it. I just really like real computers, as opposed to little phones that do phone-sized things.

Be that as it may, I do like YouTube, and with the rollout of its new phone-sized thing, I’m coloured impressed. Boasting the entire functionality of YouTube Regular, the revamped mobile version sucks a verified 400% less than that previous garbage you thought was passable for a mobile YouTube experience. Man, remember that? That was ass.

Where the update really shines for me, though, is in the interface, which is far more well-designed. Somebody did a homework, because even my enormous calloused manthumbs, yellowed and battle-hardened, can zip around this thing with little difficulty. Propers, YouTube. Propers.

This is the first time I’ve seen a mobile site truly catch up (as much as it can) to its fullscreen counterpart, and in a way, its mastery of this sort of scares me – computing really is going mobile, for real-real. I always promised never to become a dinosaur, and hold on to my precious ‘traditional’ technology, but I’m just looking more stegosaurian by the day.

Whatever, stegosaurs are totally wicked. Eat it, ‘The Mobile Web’.

‘A video!’ you cry. And I deliver. They even gave it a lil’ World Cup theme to make you love it. Adorable.
