My wallet and I feel all warm and fuzzy inside whenever we see all the affordable high-end smartphones that have been hitting the market these past couple of years, but with all these options, how are people supposed to decide which one to buy? Well if real-world speed is the most important thing, then PhoneDog’s new comparison video is a perfect way to narrow down the options. The video takes two of the most popular affordable high-end smartphones out there at the moment, the Moto X Pure and the OnePlus 2, and pits them against a newcomer, the BLU Pure XL, and the results are actually pretty surprising.
With a good majority of Android devices launching with some version of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside, it’s tough to know exactly how other processors compare. For many of you, Snapdragon is all you know. This year we’ve seen a sort of resurgence in the affordable, but still kind of high-end smartphone market. While all have attractive price points, the problem is many of these devices don’t feature the same kind of processor. There’s the ASUS ZenFone 2 with an Intel chip, Motorola Moto X Pure with a Snapdragon 808, OnePlus 2 with a Snapdragon 810, or even the BLU Pure XL with a MediaTek Helio X10 — all with varying amounts of cores and clock speeds, but roughly around the same price. The question on your mind is whether or not there’s a noticeable difference in real-world speed on these phones. Thankfully Beau HD over at PhoneDog was able to put a few of these devices through their paces, pitting them against one another in a quick speed test battle. The three devices going head-to-head are the OnePlus 2 ($300), Moto X Pure Edition ($400), and that BLU Pure XL ($350) we showed you guys a few weeks back.
