Why this answer
PSYCH is the NYT Wordle answer for Wednesday, October 14, 2026 — Wordle #1943 (print date confirmed on the publisher feed).
Letter map, left to right: P (1), S (2), Y (3), C (4), H (5). Each letter appears once. Counting A/E/I/O/U only (Y not treated as a vowel), there are zero standard vowel letters; Y is the only vowel-like character and sits in slot 3. The five-slot A/E/I/O/U skeleton is _ _ _ _ _. After locking the opening P and closing H with Y in the middle, the frame is P _ Y _ H.
PSYCH is informal shorthand for psychology (the study of mind and behavior, or the nickname for that course). As a verb it also means to prepare yourself mentally, or to unsettle an opponent — as in “psych yourself up” or “psych someone out.” It is not the longer clinical word spelled out in full.

Play today’s puzzle on NYT Wordle. TECHi’s stable today page keeps spoiler-safe hints above the fold and the answer inside the reveal section.
PSYCH is easy to miss if you keep hunting for an A, E, I, O or U after early gray vowels. Once those five letters are ruled out, treat Y as the middle pivot and test the PS…H shell. Common near-misses that share pieces of the shell (without matching every tile) still fail unless S lands in slot 2 and C in slot 4.
