Android users who have suffered fatigue in the thumb have been exposed to a valuable breakthrough in methodology. On February 23, 2026, AI dictation startup Wispr Flow announced the launch of its long-awaited Android application which provides consumers with a smooth voice-to-text feature.
Tanay Kothari, co-founder and CEO of the startup, said.
Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile.
Smart Interface Upgrade
Android uses a floating bubble to give it immediate access as opposed to the iOS keyboard integration which was unveiled in June 2025. The user holds the bubble as the dictator or taps as a start and as a stop dictation, an interface is easy to use, intuitive, and inherently built into the platform.
The application eliminates use of filler words, offers context based formatting, and provides translation of over 100 languages, and works well in any application. An overhaul of the infrastructure dropped dictation latency by 30% and had an impressive improvement in the performance.
Hinglish Boost for India
Wispr Flow came up with a new model, which is Hinglish, a combination of Hindi and English, to support those who speak the Indian language and habitually switch codes. The first experiments billed more than 1.3 million transcribed words in days, which points to the true need.
Kothari said.
If you’re someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I’m chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of those times when I just had to build something for me: the first voice model to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script.
Funding Fuels Growth
The company has attained 81mm capital with $30mm by Menlo Ventures in June 2025 and 25mm by Notable Capital in November. This capital financing has helped Wispr Flow to have a valuation of $700 million.
As a result, the company is among the very few Android based businesses like Typeless, thus, being in a space where voice input text now represents 2 out of every 3 responses as text is sent via voice when used extensively.
Market Edge and Outlook
In a competitive environment of desktop and iOS dictation applications, the cross-app opportunities and a 3x higher speed difference helps Wispr Flow to stand out among others.
Android has a massive user base of about 4.5 billion people as of 2025 which offers the platform to take advantage of mobile voice productivity of scale.
The high uptake is expected, especially in the new markets such as India where Hinglish can be used to develop multimodal AI.
With the further development of voice models, Wispr Flow can reinvent traditional typing, which can be more efficient in the hands of professionals and non-professionals.
