Apple has officially sent out invitations for its annual worldwide developers conference (WWDC), which will take place from June 9 to June 13 and has the intriguing tagline “On the Horizon”. The hybrid event, presented physically and online, signifies a significant shift in Apple’s format, as it will include online group sessions for the first time, aimed at boosting developer engagement.

What to Expect: OS Upgrades, Apple Intelligence, and Fresh Design

As always, the spotlight will be on the latest versions of Apple’s core operating systems:

  • iOS 19
  • iPadOS 19
  • macOS 16
  • watchOS 12
  • visionOS 3

The organization will additionally reveal a variety of features related to Apple Intelligence. Reports indicate that these will feature smart battery management and a virtual health aide. The company unveiled Apple Intelligence last year with great excitement, but it has not yet resonated with users.

Apple has slowly introduced features such as AI-created emojis, visuals, and email summaries. However, it needed to suspend news summaries in notifications due to incorrect headlines. Additionally, it has not yet released the updated version of Siri that works with apps and has acknowledged that the launch is postponed. From a design perspective, Apple is expected to bring sweeping visual changes across iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16.

A Bloomberg report indicated that the firm will redesign icons, menus, applications, windows, and system buttons, while making navigation and control more straightforward. Apple has partnered with Anthropic to test an AI-driven coding tool, marking significant progress for developers. Should the trials succeed, these tools could be released to the public at WWDC, marking a significant advancement in developer productivity powered by generative AI
