Cursor Launches a Web App
Cursor’s new web app brings AI-powered coding agents into the browser, offering developers streamlined task management and real-time collaboration.

Cursor, the AI code editor created by Anysphere, is making waves again with its latest release. The company has launched a new web application that brings AI coding agents directly to browser windows. This release represents a significant shift in how developers can work with Cursor’s tools, offering them greater flexibility and requiring fewer manual adjustments in their coding workflows.

The integrated development environment (IDE) was the original selling point of Cursor, where developers could both write and handle code with AI assistance. However, Anysphere is going further with the product than that configuration. Later, in May they presented background agents and smart systems capable of performing coding work on their own. Then in June, they released Slack integration enabling the user to tag @Cursor and assign the task and it worked like other AI agents such as Devin.

Along with the new web app, Cursor is even more accessible. It is now possible to assign the tasks like writing features or bug fixes with just a text prompt in the browser web app, be it on desktop or mobile. They can now also monitor the progress of these agents in real time and even integrate their work in the codebase straight through the app. This helps a lot to teams that want to remain efficient and work cooperatively. In order to continue riding this wave, Anysphere added a new Pro tier costing $200 per month. Yet the free level is the only one missing those features as even users of the $20 Pro subscription can use the background agents and the web app.

This is one of the largest selling points of Cursor, it is not making a rush to launch features just to make it look good. We can only build the tools that really work, the company claims, without falling into the AI product trap of creating something that glows in the dark, but doesn’t do well under the pressure.

On the whole, Cursor demonstrates that AI can be a true companion in the development of software systems and not an expensive secretary.

The company behind Cursor, the viral AI coding editor, launched a web app on Monday that allows users to manage a network of coding agents directly from their browser.
