The next generation of gaming on Nintendo has officially begun and fans wasted no time diving into it. In just a blink of an eye, GameStop’s Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders disappeared. Early Wednesday, GameStop opened online and in-store pre orders for the eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2, only to have all stock cleared within hours. That tiny window for pre-ordering followed somewhat of a staggered and chaotic rollout across major retailers, most of whom sold out the allocation almost immediately.

For instance, GameStop was among the last retailers to join the launch party, and perhaps the most traditional because people could line up and pour into the store the next day to preorder. The company also sold the $449.99 standalone console and  $499.99 Mario Kart World online. Although, GameStop would not comment on final inventory numbers but seemed to have lined up for the next fast sellout.

System Contents

Nintendo Switch 2 does not just introduce gaming, but it also takes a whole new approach to the hardware experience. The base model contains a redesigned console, new Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach. The new “C” shortcut button presents the official debut of  GameChat, Nintendo’s in-game voice feature that allows for conversations during play.

In addition, the redesigned dock, AC adapter, USB-C charging cable, HDMI cable, Joy-Con grip, and wrist straps are all included in the package, everything one wants to plug in on the first day and begin racing, building, or exploring.

Bundle Bonus of Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World bundle gives fans the extra goodies for just another $50 for really wanting to go full blast. The bundle, at $499.99, includes everything a standalone kit has in addition to a digital copy of Mario Kart World, which Nintendo has separately priced at $79.99. The bundle is expected to go on sale for fall only or till supplies last, which by judging the current preorder stampede, might not be for long.

With preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 disappearing within minutes, many in the gaming world are left with nothing to do but wait. GameStop had briefly rekindled the hopes of many with a hybrid online-and the offline in-store approach, but looking at the rapid sell-out, the demand really is outstripping supply. As the June 5 launch date draws closer, Nintendo enthusiasts will be watching for restocks and new preorders. Preorder madness might upset fans, but it only further shows a company in touch with its audience. No matter whatever the scenario is, Nintendo’s latest console is already a hit, even before selling off its shelves.
