Reddit Down Again
Reddit faced a slight usage issue during the year’s first three months. However, no major incident was reported. Last November, the social media platform faced three back-to-back outages in less than 24 hours, one of which was attributed to a bug in a recent update. At that time, More than 35,000 users reported this issue, and in a few hours, the number rose to 76,000. That time, Reddit constantly updated the users about the outage via X. There was even a meme trend that got viral based on ‘Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, ’ as the platform wrote it in a tweet.
X Outage but Momentary
Parallel to this, X also showed an outage at 3:03 p.m. ET. The number of incidents reported was 18,000. However, in half an hour, the number decreased to 700. Downdetector is a real-time website outage tracking platform. Its findings are based on multiple sources used by the platform to collect outage status. The number of incidents reported is based on user-submitted reports. The platform claims that the number of affected users may vary. As both social media platforms have refrained from commenting on the causes of the outage, it could be speculated that server failure, software bugs, or network issues could be the potential causes of such widespread outages.
