Updated 7:45 p.m. Pacific: A Salesforce spokesperson told Techi.com that Moonhub has not, in fact, been acquired. Rather, Moonhub is shutting down, and only some of the company’s team — not the entire team, as Moonhub initially stated — will be joining Salesforce. The original story follows.

Salesforce is bringing over much of Moonhub’s team, an emerging startup that develops AI-powered tools for smooth hiring and recruiting processes. The financial specifics of the team transition have not been disclosed to the public. Moonhub acknowledges that its entire team in Menlo Park, California, will be moving to Salesforce, one of its early investors. Moonhub CEO Nancy Xu announced in a blog post on Monday. In her words,

“As a customer and investor, Salesforce has already played a role in Moonhub’s journey.”

Also wrote Moonhub CEO Nanxy Xu in the post.

“From our earliest conversations, it was also clear that our companies share deep core values like customer trust, along with a resolute conviction in the role AI agents will play in unlocking an era of global innovation and opportunity. We are excited for the impact we will make together.”

Xu, a former Meta engineer, launched Moonhub in 2022 to help businesses improve the hiring process. It is an end-to-end hiring solution since its AI platform can find qualified applicants, get in touch with them, help with onboarding, and even handle payroll. It has drawn a sizable clientele over time, including a number of Fortune 500 businesses.

The acquisition of Salesforce is in line with its larger plan to improve its AI capabilities across a range of industry sectors. This deal comes after a series of recent ones, such as last week’s $8 billion investment in data management company Informatica. Salesforce’s strong push into AI-driven enterprise solutions was further signaled last month when it purchased automation firm Convergence.ai.

According to Crunchbase, Moonhub had previously collected $14.4 million from well-known backers like Khosla Ventures, GV (formerly Google Ventures), AIX Ventures, Day One Ventures, and Salesforce itself.

Xu expressed optimism about the future, saying,

“By joining Salesforce, we are accelerating our mission in this next chapter. Moonhub’s talented team will play a key role in advancing Salesforce’s AI strategy.”

A wider change in the sector is also reflected in this purchase. Workflows related to hiring and human resources are increasingly incorporating AI. 93% of Fortune 500 chief HR officers have begun using AI tools to increase productivity, lessen bias, and expedite hiring decisions, per a recent Gallup poll.

Our Opinion:

Salesforce’s integration of Moonhub’s team isn’t just a smart talent move — it signals how AI is rapidly reshaping recruitment. It’s a signal that the future of recruitment is being redefined by AI. By bringing Moonhub’s deep tech and talent under its umbrella, Salesforce is positioning itself to lead in a growing space where automation and intelligent software are taking over repetitive and manual HR tasks. While there is still ongoing debate about the ethical implications of AI in hiring, this deal shows how rapidly the technology is becoming mainstream. For businesses, this could mean faster, smarter hiring. For job seekers, however, it raises new questions about transparency and fairness in the process.
