Snapchat has a long history of being the first movers in advanced Augmented Reality, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence Tools.
Snap Inc. was founded in September 2011. It became popular due to its innovative features, which encouraged quick and easy communication on the go while commuting or traveling. Snapchat has been a leader in using cutting-edge technology, and it has been investing in AI like other tech companies. A recent report estimates that Snap will spend $1.59 billion in 2025 on its AI infrastructure. There will be three Lenses to start, and more are planned to be added every week. The initial Lenses will include “Raccoon” and “Fox,” which animate furry friends seamlessly into a Snap, and a “Spring Flowers” Lens that generates a zoom-out effect revealing the person in the Snap holding a bouquet of flowers.
These three new video Gen AI Lenses will be the the first in the Lens carousel if you are a Snapchat Platinum subscriber. You can select the Lens and capture Snap through the front or back-facing camera. The AI video will be generated automatically and saved to Memories, where you can continue capturing other content or sending messages. Then you can easily share the new video or Stories / Spotlight with your friends.
Just last month, Snap unveiled an AI text-to-image model that will power some new Snapchat features in the coming months. With this in-house technology, Snap is working on lowering operating costs while still staying ahead of the competition.
