In a blog post on March 20, Spotify announced a new personalized playlist, ‘Concerts Near You’, making it fun and easy for its users to discover touring artists. The audio-streaming platform stated
“Spotify listeners love discovering new artists and songs, but they also love finding out when they can catch their favorites live in concert. That’s why today we’re rolling out Concerts Near You, a personalized playlist that helps you discover upcoming concerts in your area.”
This newly launched feature will give users access to full event details and ticket links from expandable track rows in the playlist. The company has partnered with ticket booking platforms, including AXS, Eventbrite, and Ticketmaster.
The playlist will be updated every Wednesday with 30 songs from artists performing nearby. Users must share their location through the ‘Live Events’ section under the ‘Search’ tab. The company also recommends its users turn on notifications and follow their favorite artists to get personalized reminders.
‘Concert Near You’ is Sharable
The digital music platform also informed the listeners that this new playlist, ‘Concert Near You,’ can be shared with friends and family. The platform announced
“And since live music is better with friends, both the playlist and the event info listed within it are easily sharable, so you can plan to attend a concert together.”
Spotify Bridging the Gap between Fans and Artists
Spotify, censured for not compensating artists adequately, expressed that with this new feature now artists can sell more tickets and fans will be well-informed about artists coming to their towns. Charlie Hellman, Vice President, Global Head of Music Product at Spotify, expressed about Spotify bridging the gap between fans and artists
“This new playlist not only makes it easier for fans to find shows nearby, but it also gives artists a powerful new way of selling more tickets and filling venues with the audiences who love their music most.”
In January 2025, Spotify released the ‘Artists to Watch’ playlist, which featured 35 global solo and group artists. The playlist included rising stars who may shape the sound of 2025.
