Xiaomi has unveiled its next-generation smart televisions

By Jesseb Shiloh1 min readGoogle News

Remember last week when Xiaomi teased an announcement for the successor to its Mi TV line of smart televisions? Well the announcement is here and it’s better than we expected, and we expected quite a lot. There are two versions, both of which are incredibly appealing to the eye and even more so to the wallet. The 49-inch Mi TV 2 gives you everything a regular smart television would, as well as a 4K display, all for the stupidly low price of $640 while the 40-inch full-HD version goes for half as much.

Pre-announcement context folded into the launch story

This announcement page now folds in the earlier teaser story. Before Xiaomi unveiled the new Mi TV models, the company had signaled that a next-generation smart television launch was coming, with expectations around both full-HD and 4K versions.

That teaser context makes the final announcement clearer: the 40-inch full-HD model and the larger 4K Mi TV 2 were not separate search intents, but two steps in the same product-launch cycle.
