On June 9, the tech world is set to be captivated by Apple’s forthcoming keynote that showcases unprecedented advancements in Apple Intelligence, productivity features for iPadOS, and a radical design update that the company hasn’t touched in years. Indeed, it seems WWDC is set to be one of the most transformative events in the history of the company.

A Dramatic Visual Redesign Signals a New Chapter

Exciting news is coming for owners of Apple devices, as a report has surfaced that nearly all devices will gain the ability to function with the new mixed reality headset. This will make the experience a lot more similar for all Apple users. It will also add a home centre style with almost round icons, like on iPhones. This is more than just a paint job; Apple wants to use the same design language across all iOS apps, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, so that switching between devices is seamless.

These redesigns come at the same time as Apple’s big software updates, which changed how the OS looks. The last time Apple did a redesign of this magnitude was in 2020 with macOS Big Sur and 2013 with iOS 7, where they ditched skeuomorphic designs for a flat, minimalistic look. This year, the expected changes are much greater than in previous years. If all goes according to plan for Apple, this change will allow every part of Apple’s ecosystem to feel even tighter than before, and visual gaps that have existed for so long will finally be eliminated.

iPadOS 19 Finally Embraces Productivity

For the past several years, the iPad Pro has been held back by the lack of solid software, which in turn stunted the experience for many advanced users. Apple has tried making some changes, such as the Stage Manager in the iPad 16 and a multitasking menu in iPad 15, but these changes have done nothing to increase the iPad’s ability to replace a laptop, but perhaps that will change this year. iPadOS 19 is said to include major productivity features such as better multitasking and advanced app window management. The iPad is not getting a macOS version upgrade, but the new update should improve the experience for power users while still avoiding a direct competitor to Mac sales. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg indicates that these updates will “likely go far enough” to satisfy even the most demanding users, which could mark a new chapter for the iPad as a focused productivity device.

Every big player in technology has made artificial intelligence (AI) a part of their core strategy, and Apple is no different. At this year’s WWDC, there will be major updates in Apple Intelligence, like improvements to previously released features, or new capabilities will be introduced. More anticipated is the update to a self-tailored AI-enabled Siri. Last year, Apple impressed everyone when it showcased a demo where Siri streamlined a complex multi-app execution of tasks in seconds. From what it seems now, the world behind the curtains is a different story. Reports suggest that upgraded Siri may have lost its edge earlier than thought. The internal team was shocked by the daring 2024 demo, suggesting that there is still much development to be done.

Bloomberg continues to report that significant updates to Siri are still months away from being integrated into shipping devices, and now Apple is trying to avoid negative marketing by decoupling Apple Intelligence from Siri. It’s not clear what the company has planned for this cycle, but Mark Gurman says a “Siri GPT” might come out in the first half of 2026

Arriving Now: AI-Powered Battery Management

A highlight feature of Apple Intelligence set to debut in iOS 19 is the AI-powered battery management system. This works by observing your phone usage patterns and adjusting power consumption dynamically and in advance, predicting the need to throttle power usage from certain apps or device functions. This could be crucial for the speculated ultra-thin “iPhone Air” that is rumoured to come with a smaller battery that is expected to struggle to last a full day. With AI charging algorithms, even the slimmest of iPhones could be practical for daily use.

A report suggests that Apple is working on a virtual health coach, named Project Mulberry, which will integrate a modernized Health app with an AI-based consultant. It would leverage data from Apple devices and offer tailored health recommendations, employing insights from the company’s doctors alongside materials from outside specialists. Although Bloomberg speculates that WWDC could reveal new focuses for Apple, with the virtual coach potentially appearing in iOS 19.4 in 2026, it does showcase Apple’s long-term plans for integrating AI technology for health and wellness.

What to Expect in WWDC 2025

Along with the main features, Apple is likely to implement other important minor changes like these:

  • Apple’s iOS 19 will have a feature that should make it easier to connect to public Wi-Fi networks. This improvement aims to make the user experience easier by letting devices automatically connect to public Wi-Fi networks that have already been visited without any help from a person.
  • Offbeat and potentially game-changing updates to be offered in visionOS 3, along with the rest of watchOS 12, tvOS 19, and visionOS.

As per convention, first developer betas will have immediate access during keynote sessions, with public betas available early during the summer. New updates will be paired alongside iPhone releases in autumn.

Future Apple Insights and Analysis

This is a critical moment in time for Apple with WWDC 2025, as they hope to regain industry first position in designing and implementing AI. It’s not only for superficial purposes. Apple aims to allow users the ability to use products in an effortless manner through a design they plan to deliver and if successful, would be impressive for the brand’s reputation. The development of Apple Intelligence, specifically in coaching and battery management, demonstrates the company’s efforts to incorporate AI while maintaining privacy. Although some may be disappointed with the later rollout of next-generation Siri, the steady shift toward Gemini integration suggests Apple is taking a user-friendly approach to AI.

For iPad owners, the anticipated enhancements could narrow the gap between tablets and laptops, elevating the iPad Pro’s status as a productivity device and expanding its allure. As always, the real test comes when users can interact with the software. But with WWDC 2025, Apple is making it clear that this is an update unlike any other. This is a bold leap into the future: a redesign of how we interact with technology on every screen of our lives.
