$100,000,000,000. A one followed by 11 zeroes. Has social networking truly become so lucrative that Facebook’s intention of launching their initial public offering on May 17th will yield a company that can raise $10 billion against such a lofty valuation?
It’s a question that was being asked when Facebook was worth 1/3rd of where it is now. The question will be asked until it fails or clearly succeeds. What do you think? Is Facebook really worth that much?
The dollar amount on your image, and the dollar amount in your post don’t match.
Really confused by the way it is a nice question to ask.
the amount on the image is 1 Trilliion Dollars, the amount on the 1st sentence on your post is 100 Billion dollars, and the amount on the later part of the sentence is 10 Billion dollars. WHICH IS WHICH? i think you are CONFUSED.
The $100B and $10B numbers could be valid, at least. If the IPO raises $10B, then that would value the entire company at $100B as 10% of the company will then be held publicly.
The $1,000,000,000 number on the image would be wrong, but of course there’s no “United States of Australia” either …
I think you are the one who is confused… see that “GOATSE RESERVE NOTE”?

Hasn't anything been always worth what people are willing to pay? The real question should probably be if Facebook can maintain this assessment of its worth for as long as other things that might have more of what we think of historically as intrinsic value. what are the chances Facebook could ever be worth as much as it is now; or does it face only an ever-dwindling future…
I believe the information is worth quite a bit but no where near what people/investors think its worth. Anyone remember yahoo and its mega worth but when was the last time someone used it. The same thing has begun with facebook. Most of the people I knew on facebook dont ever check it or post any more and the rest dont care to join. It was a great way to reconnect with people from long ago but quickly gets old. Now that employers are using the system to background check individuals everyone its dying off two fold.
