WhatsApp to launch a new iOS update for multi-account purposes. This upcoming feature will enable multi-account users to operate multiple accounts through one app. The users will no longer require WhatsApp Business for a secondary number.

The new update will simplify using multiple accounts for personal and professional purposes. Though the procedure is still under development and refinement for beta testers to optimize their WhatsApp experience, it is available on the TestFlight beta program, taking the version up to 25.9.10.70.

The social media platform is working on directly adding a second account from the app settings. WhatsApp is likely to redesign its setting page to integrate this feature. Moreover, a profile picture display will be added so that users can easily differentiate between two or more accounts.

Account Registration

WhatsApp is considering operationalizing two methods in progress. The first is to set up the secondary account as a new profile, requiring the same protocol that users usually follow while making an account. It will require simply registering their new profile with a phone number.

The second method is the QR code, in which users are required to link their new account to the primary device by scanning the QR code. This will make the new account a companion to the main account.

Separate Profiles

To prevent confusion and mistakes, WhatsApp is working on featuring two distinct and separate settings, notification, and preference pages for each account. Chat history will also be kept separate to make a sharp distinction between the two accounts. There is also a possibility that WhatsApp will include separate tones and alert settings for each account for a better user experience. Not to stop here, WhatsApp may also include separate backups to ensure that media and documents are not mixed up. Though the WhatsApp has not given an exact date of launch, it is expected to launch soon for beta testers and general users.
