Apple launched streaming for DJ Mix sets in 2021. Since then, the company has included thousands of sets on the platform.
This music update is preceded by Apple’s new software update, which brought lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio features to AirPods Max. By using USB-C along with the AirPods, musicians could create and mix in Personalized Spatial Audio, assisting them in using multiple music creation apps. This feature will be accessible next month, and USB-C is available on Apple stores.
As of 2024 reports, Apple Music has over 93 million subscribers and a 30.7% share of the US music streaming market. This music streaming platform is available in 167 countries and offers a diverse catalog of over 100 million songs and 30,000 playlists. The company also introduced a 24-hour music video channel last year.
Apple’s biggest competitor in the US, Spotify, was also reported last year by the Wall Street Journal to introduce remixing tools for the TikTok Generation. Other music streaming platforms, for instance, SoundCloud also integrated six AI-powered tools for editing and mixing in November 2024.
