In 2024, Microsoft launched its AI-powered Security Copilot to assist security teams. Expanding this chatbot’s capabilities, Microsoft now adds new security agents to process phishing and data loss alerts. These new security features include six Microsoft-designed AI agents and five created by its partners. The Security Agents will be previewing next month.
While unveiling these new features, Vasu Jakkal, corporate president of Microsoft Security stated
“The six Microsoft Security Copilot agents enable teams to autonomously handle high-volume security and IT tasks while seamlessly integrating with Microsoft Security solutions”
The company announced that these enhanced capabilities will ensure

As the new upgrade is set to launch, the company is confident that these enhanced features will make the cyber landscape more secure for the overwhelmed security teams. It is capable of processing phishing and provides data loss alerts along with monitoring vulnerabilities. Highlighting the company’s Zero Trust framework, the blog post mentioned that these agents learn from feedback, adapt to workflows, and operate securely. The company also explained that these new agents will enable teams to handle high-volume security while integrating with Microsoft Security Solutions autonomously.

Phishing Protection
The company also announced that it is working on improving phishing protection within Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will protect the systems from phishing and other cyberthreats within Teams, providing better protection against malicious URLs and other attachments.

Privacy Breach Responses Agents
OneTrust has designed privacy breach response agent that will analyze data breaches to generate responses for privacy team regarding regulatory requirements.
Network Supervisor Agent
Aviatrix’s AI agent will analyze root cause and provide summaries of VPN and Site2Cloud connection failures.
SecOps Tooling Agent
This AI agent by BlueVoyant will access Security Operations Center (SOC) and state of controls to optimize security operations and improve controls along with efficacy.
Alert Triage Agent
This Tanium-designed AI agent will assist analysts with the required context to make quick decisions on each alert.
Task Optimizer Agent
Fletch made this AI agent will help organizations to forecast most critical cyber threats.
AI-Driven Security Threats
Microsoft highlighted in its blog post that as organizations rapidly adopt generative AI, there is a growing urgency to secure and govern AI-generated data. The company stated
According to our new report, “Secure employee access in the age of AI,” 57% of organizations report an increase in security incidents due to AI usage. While most organizations recognize the need for AI controls, 60% have not yet started.
